At that, Jessiepaw bounded off back into ShadowClan territory. Once he was safely home, the tom felt himself blushing under his pelt. Why was he blushing? It was a WindClan she-cat. He couldn't have a crush on her! Did he?
Who cares, he was going back tomorrow!
Jessiepaw dropped off his prey just as Cherrypaw limped out of the medicine cat den. "How's your leg?" he questioned. His sister shrugged. "Getting better. Want to share that rabbit with me?" Jessiepaw shrugged, dropping to his stomach. "Sure." he meowed, taking a bit. Cherrypaw bit in, then spit it out. "Ew, Jessiepaw! Did you catch this on WindClan territory? It's tasteless!" Jessiepaw, not paying attention to his sister, didn't answer. He was lost in thought.
"Jessiepaw!" Cherrypaw meowed, nudging him. Jessiepaw shot his head up. "What?" he mumbled, rising to his paws clumsily. Cherrypaw snorted. "I asked you a question." The tom just shrugged and walked away, leaving the rabbit and his confused sister.
That night, Jessiepaw lay curled up in his mossy nest but not sleeping. That was one thing the tom couldn't do. But finally, he felt himself drifting off. The next morning, Jessiepaw woke up extra early so he could get out of camp unnoticed. The tom slipped past Spiderwick, who was on patrol, and then sprinted to the border. Why was he doing this? He was going to get caught! I have to see Rosepaw.
